We asked each of our creative facilitation team to tell us about their background, and the adventurous change that they achieved when they were kids.

Adventurous change I achieved as a kid was I got my nose pieced in HS but got away with it because I was such a goody-two-shoes, I think even the teachers thought I deserved a bit of rebellion.

Lens Mist Photography Award Winner Adventurous change I achieved as a kid was I convinced school to allow girls to take part in “manual arts” (woodworking and metal work). Instead of only being allowed to do Home Economics (cooking and sewing). Although the thing I was made to make in manual arts was a cake tin, it was at least a step in showing that girls may be interested in using tools other than a cake beater and sewing machine.

Adventurous change I achieved as a kid was in primary school, despite not wanting to be ‘different’ I stood up in class and pointed out a CRT teacher’s overt racism and anti-semitism. I burst into tears and felt humiliated, but the school principal commended me and that teacher was never seen again.
